Install WordPress

If you’d prefer, you can download this blog post in pdf format.

Okay so you’ve purchased your WordPress hosting package from Rosier Internet and want to get blogging/creating your WordPress website.

Thankfully you haven’t got to download WordPress and upload it to our servers, thanks to our one-click install. We currently don’t have a tutorial for manual install of WordPress but that will be coming in the tutorial blog series, we’ll place a link here and notify you via our social media platforms when it is available.

So you need to sign into your Rosier Internet web hosting control panel, and then follow these instructions. If you don’t know how to access your hosting control panel, then click the link for the tutorial.

Scroll down to CGI Scripts, and WordPress Blog should be the first icon, click on it.

The following page will be displayed. Here you will need to decide where you want people to view the site. For example, this tutorial is being created on our Rosier Demo account and I’ve chosen for it to be seen at www.rosierdemo.co.uk (please note: the current contents of this site is not necessarily from this tutorial), however by entering ‘blog’ in the Installation Directory after /homes/sites/rosierdemo.co.uk/public_html/ then it would be displayed at www.rosierdemo.co.uk/blog. After you’ve chosen, please click the Install Now button.

Generally, installation is less than a minute. You’ll then be shown this confirmation message.

You now need to click on your domain name (http://www.rosierdemo.co.uk/). You’ll be taken to your site to continue the installation.

Once arriving at your site, you’ll be asked to choose between the single or multi blog installation, for the purpose of this tutorial we’re going to go with single, as it’s generally the most common.

After selecting ‘Single’ above, you’ll be taken to the next stage of the installation, shown below. Fear not, you’re almost done.

You’ll need to complete the information needed section below, as I have done. Entering the Site Title, Username (default is admin, can stick with it or change it – no spaces allowed) , a secure password (twice) and your e-mail address.
Please note: When entering the second password it will inform you the passwords do not match, just continue entering the password as they only match when they are completed in full.

Finally, you need to select the privacy option for the site, and then click the ‘Install WordPress’ button. Personally, I always allow my site to appear in the search engines as it is important for me that we get listed as it’ll help drive traffic to the site. Fear not though, you can change the options at a later date, simply by going into Settings (within your WordPress account) and Privacy.

And you are done, congratulations!!

For future reference, your WordPress account can be accessed, by adding /wp-admin/ to the end of your domain. For example, mine would be www.rosierdemo.co.uk/wp-admin/. Alternatively, if I’d added the site to my ‘blog’ directory (www.rosierdemo.co.uk/blog) then it would be accessed at www.rosierdemo.co.uk/blog/wp-admin/.

If you’d prefer to have someone else install it for you, we can take care of that and the installation of any themes or plugins that you want at the same time. Please contact us for a quote.
